    The Batlle was not really a battle becasue General Hull of the Americans surendered Fort Wayne out a single shot being fired. This showed the people of Upper Canada that their forces were strong and able.

    The Battle of Queenston Heights
    The Battle of Queenston Heights was the first major battle of the war. Durning the battle, Brock and a group of men stormed the hill in aneffort to recapture their own guns but during the skirmish, Brock was killed. In the end the British ended up winning the battle and forcing the Americans back across the Niagra River

    The American forces Captured York (Presently Toronto), witch was at that time the capital of Upper Canada. The Parliment buildings were also burned by the Americans. After only 2 days of occupation the Americans left.

    The reason for this battle was the strategic advantages it would have in terms of shipping supplies throughout the different settlements, the only drawback was that all ships on the lake had to be built there. The battle was 6 British ships versus 9 American ships. In the end the British surrenderd with all 6 ships remaining. And the Americans therefore had complete control over Lake Erie

    After losing Detroit and other major battles, the Americans wanted a victory. The Americans attacked where present-day Chatam is, on the Thames river. The Americans 3760 men strong while the British had on 1300. The Americans won, killing Tecumseh and killing or capturing over 700 British and Native fighters.

    This was not really a 'battle' becasue American fur traders had ran out of supplies and when North West Company traders suggested selling the fort, the owner negotiated good terms and peacefully gave up the fort. The British took formal possession of the post and renamed Fort George

    The British and Canadian forces were outnumbered almost 4000 to 1500 while trying to deffend Lower Canada from the American attack. Even though outnumbered the Americans were pushed back, mostly by the Militia. After losing the battle the Americans decided to stop their campaign along the St. Lawerence.

    Even though the the Canadian and British forces were outnumbered 8000-900, they still managed to gain a victory over the Americans. Many American boats capsized and sailers were sick at sea. By mid afternoon the Americans were disorganized and almost out of ammo, forcing them to retreat back across the river.

    The Battle of Lundy's Lane is considered to be the most deadly battle ever fought on Canadian soil. The battle went on during the day, but when dark fell no one knew what was going on. Many were killed by friendly fire, because it was so dark, most killed whatever they saw. Athough both claimed victory, the Americans retreated first

    The British occupied and had control of Washington, D.C. for one day in August. The British burnt the President's mansion. It was repainted white and to this day known as "The White House".

    The Attack on Baltimore saw British ships relentlessly bombarding Fort McHenry's defensive walls through the night. Over 10,000 American Troops stood firm and the American flag flew overhead. Despite firing 1500 rockets and cannonballs at the fort, the British gave up and retreated. An American laywer watching the battle was inspired to write the now American nation anthem; The Star Spangled Banner.

    The Battle of Plattsburgh or Lake Champlain was the final major battle before the Treaty of Ghent was signed. 10 000 British troops attacked Plattsburgh but later retreated as it couldn't be supplied without complete control of Lake Champlain.

    The Treaty of Ghent was the peace treaty that ended the War of 1812. All prisoners were released and thousands of acres of land was given back to both sides. Although it all seemed very good the Natives were not consulted what-so-ever even though they played a huge role in the war.
