    From 1803 to 1812 the British would kidnap American traders and force them to join the military. This was one of the worse things of the war because these people would fight against their country against their will. Impressment is one thing that I would rather take a bullet then do.

    The Loss of Fort Mackinac
    The British soldiers fought Americans hard and invaded American territory. During this fight Fort Mackinac was lost to the British. This was a very important milestone in the War of 1812.

    Battle of Frenchtown
    Some time in January of 1813 the British repelled Kentucky troops and Native American troops. The survivors were killed in the "Raisin River Massacre". The British were brutal and wiped the Americans out of Frenchtown

    The American soldiers took control of the Great Lakes by York. After having control of York they burned the city to the ground. In response to the burning of York, the British burned Washington D.C.

    The British attacked the naval area at Lake Erie. The Americans fended off the attack by the British. The Captain that was leading the naval force at the time was Captain Perry.

    The Battle of Thames was fought against the Native Americans and the Americans. The fight was very serious and the Americans won. One of the important things about this battle was that Tecumseh was killed.

    The U.S. soldiers fought against the Native Americans in a successful battle. The leader of the U.S. was Andrew Jackson. This was yet another victory for the U.S.

    The Battle of Plattsburgh was fought by the U.S. and the British. The U.S. won even though the British had a larger army. It was a very uplifting victory for the U.S.
