    He had planned to keep the us out of war until 1812 when his plan failed. .

    • War Hawks had a strong sense of nationalism.
    • They felt that Britian was treating the u.s. thought as if it was still a British colocny
    • They were willing to fight a war to defend american rights
    • War Hawks felt that winning a war against britian would bring peace and safety

    • Perry took his flag down and rowed over to another american ship.
    • Captain Perry wrote his message of victory " we have met the enemy and they are ours"
