    Why?
    There were many reasons why this war started. However, the reason thought to be the main cause was that the British Order-In-Council were forcing men to serve in the military.

    1.) The USS Constitution defeats HMS Guerriere, which is very signifigent because the British are thought to be the better naval force.
    2.) The Battle at Fort McHenry, in 1814 is successfully defended against the British forces. It's also important because our national anthem was suposedly created at this battle.
    3.) The treat of Ghent, in 1814, ended this war.

    Where?
    This war was fought on both land and sea. However on land it was mostly fought on the Canadian border and along the Gulf of Mexico. However, this war was also fought quite a lot on the water.
  • Causes

    The impressment of American sailors into the British navy was the many cause of this war.
  • Effects

    Effects
    1.) American patriotism increased
    2.) Resistance from the Native Americans weakened
    3.) Manufacturing grew in the U.S.
  • Impact/Outcome

    2. Americans gained confidence
    3. Ear of peace began
    4. Jackson became a "hero"
    5. European trade grew rapidly
    6. The U.S. would never be a British colony ever again
