    Mustafe Kemal (the Founder of Modern Turkey)

    Following the defeat of the Ottoman Empire in World War I, Mustaka Kemal ( also known as Aturk) led the Turkish national movement in the Turkish War of Independence. Having established a provisional government in Ankara, he defeated the forces sent by the Allies. His military campaigns gained Turkey it's independence.

    Republic of Turkey proclaims that it is a successor state to 600 year old Ottoman empire. Then they elect their first President Mustafa Kemal. Their capitol goes from Constantipole to Ankara.

    Social, Political, Linguistic , and economic reforms transform Turkey into a modern and western state. The economy grows stronger and Turkey gets civilized. Also Turkey get modern, too.

    Constantinople officially becomes Istanbul. After the fall of Constantipole two things change. One of the changes is that Constantipole changes from the capital to not a capital. Another change is that Constantipole becomes Isatnbul the most populated city.

    The great Ataturk dies of severe illness in Dolmabahçe Palace at Istanbul. He was going on a trip when he got sick. He was suggested to go to Istanbul to get treatment. While he was getting treatement he tried to live his normal life. But unfortunately he died.

    Turkey enters world war 2, and joins the Allies, shortly before the war ends. Germany's weakness was oil. Turkey had a vast supply of oil so they supplied oil to the Allies. The Turks remained neutral but they did come in a few times.

    The European Union (EU) is a unique economic and political union of 27 member states which are located mostly in Europe. Its capital is de facto Brussels.

    In this period of time there was a dangerous earthquake that killed over 17,000 citizens in Turkey. This earthquake left a shock for quite a long time.
