    In 1789, Louis XVI made a meeting of the Estates General. The General Estates General had not gathered in more than 170 years. The only one since the 1600's.

    The Third Estate, led by Honoré Gabriel Riqueti,
    began to call themselves the National Assembly. Immediately fearing the worst and anxious that a royal attack by King Louis XVI was imminent, the deputies congregated in a nearby indoor tennis court where they took a solemn collective oath "not to separate, and to reassemble wherever circumstances require, until the constitution of the kingdom is established"

    This March was also known as The Bread March of Women. The women thought that the prices of bread were very high in the shortage of bread. There were rumors that stated that royalty was taking all of the grain.

    This was a turning point in the Revolutionary. On this day a little more than three years after the attack on the Bastille. The people of Paris laid siege on the Tuileries. This was a big event which people say to be one of the biggest of the things in the Revolutionary.

    A convention put Louis XVI on a Trial for Treason, and they pronounced him guilty. People in France were scared that the people of their country might make similar actions. They had also made Marie Antoinette watch and then was later executed in 1793.

    Napoleon wins the Egyptian campaign with an army of around 37,000. The battle was fought between the French Army in Egypt with Napoleon and local Mamluk forces.

    Napoleon overthrew The Directory by force. The Directory and The French Revolution came to an end with the coup d'e'tat he overthrew and replaced it with the Consulate. Coup D'e'tat is a sudden unconstitutional deposition of a legitimate government.

    It was a sea battle fought between the British Royal Navy and the combination of the French Navy and Spanish Navy, during the War of the Third Coalition of the Napoleonic Wars. British victory confirmed their naval supremacy. Nelson was killed. A coalition is an Alliance, or combined action.
