The hartford convention was a grou[ of federalists that wanted New England to secede from the United States. While the federalists were debating there was news of the peace treaty arrived. When the war eneded the Hartford convention followed.

The trreaty of ghent brought things back to normal after the war ended. On Christmas eve 1814the two sides signed a treaty that ended the war. The peace talks began in Ghent,Belgium.
