    The war hawks were people that wanted war with Britain. War hawks thought that britain thought that America was still a British colony. They were willing to fight a war with Bitain.

    In the vote to declare war on Britian, congress voted 79 to 49 to declare war. Many Americans wanted war with Britain.

    Isaac Hull was the captain of the USS Constitution who attacked the British ship Guerriere. For nearly a hour the two ships fought for position but finaly the cannons of the Constitution fired and tore holes and shot down both masts of the Guerriere. After the smoke cleared the stunned British captain surrendered

    The point of the battle of lake Erie was to gain control of it. captain Oliver Perry had no ships so he built them. During the battle the British crippled Perry's ship so he took the flag of that ship and went to another ship and raised the flag and kept fighting. In the end the Americans won.

American commander Oliver Hazard Perry who was on the ship switched to a different ship and kept battling. The americans won the battle and chased the British into Canada and defeated them.

    A indian nation called the Creeks kept attacking American settlers. A officer Andrew Jackson took action and lead a group of American soilders to Horseshoe Bend and with the help of the Cherokees had a crushing victory.The leader of the creeks came into there camp and surrendered.

    After attacking Wastington D.C the British marched to Baltimore. The main key to Baltimore's defence was fort Mc Henry. From September 13th to September 14th the British bombarded the harbor, but in the morning the British withdrawled there troops.

    Francis Scott Key wote the Star Spangled Banner on the back of an old envelope. The poem was popular and turned into music. In 1931, Congress made the sone/poem into the National Anthem of the United States.

    Federalists protested and threatened to leave the union if the war continued.When delegates were debating on what to do, the news of the peace treaty arrived. The Hartford convention ended very quickly.

    The treaty of Ghent was singed in the city of Ghent, Belgium. John Quincy Adams summed up the treaty as "nothing was adjusted, nothing was settled". The treaty said nothing about the impressment of sailors.
