    James Madison took the office on March 4, 1809. Americans were angry at Britain for arming Native Americans in the Northwest. Also, Americans resented the British for taking sailors and making fight for Britain

    June 18th, 1812, Congress declared war on Britian. However the Americans weren't prepared to fight against the British in a war. Many soldiers were not well trained and not ready to fight in the war. The government offered them money and land to serve in the army so many joined, but left after only a few months

    In July 12th, 1812, American troops invaded canada from Detroit, Michigan. The American troops were under command of General Willian Hull. General William Hull was insure because he feared himself that he didn't have any soldiers and soon would retreat.

    In October 5, 1813 General William Henery Harrison pursued Tippecanoe. Tecumsen the Indian died in the battle of Thames. The fight ended and Native Americans gave up the land in Thames to white.

    The British capture and burned the White House. The White House apparently was burned but not destroyed. Thunderstorm put out the flames and the White House was saved.
