    Battle of Tippecanoe
    One of the most significant battles that led to the War of 1812. It involved Shawnee Chief Tecumseh. This was a US Victiory.
  • America declares war on Great Britain

    America declares war on Great Britain
    Known as the Second American Revolution, America declared war on the British becase of impressment. Over a time span of 9 years, the British forced 10,000 Americans to work on British ships.
  • Hull's Proclamation

    Hull's Proclamation
    William Hull offers Canada the same rights as the United States. "The United States offers you Peace, Liberty and Security your choice lies between these and War, Slavery, and destruction, Choose then, but choose wisely; and may he who knows the justice of our cause, and who holds in his hand the fate of Nations, guide you to a result the most compatible, with your rights and interests, your peace and prosperity." Canada was a new providence of the States.

    USS Constitution vs.  HMS Guerriere
    As some of the first "Ironsides" the USS Constituion sunk the British vessel HMS Guerriere.
  • Queenston Heights Battle

    Queenston Heights Battle
    After battling General Hull, a few weeks later Sir Isaac Brock was in the battle of the town of Queenston Heights. There Brock was shot in the chest by an American soldier. In the picture, you can see him after he was shot yelling, "Push on, brave York volunteers!"

    This attack was by American forces invading the Great Lakes and to take control of the Great Lakes just to get to York, the capitol of upper Canada. This was a victory of the United States.

    America's "Surprise Move" on British Forces at  Beaver Dams
    American soldiers were on their way to Beaver Dams, when they forced themselves into Laura Secords home. She made them dinner, and as she was washing the dishes she listened in to the soldiers conversation with her husband about atttacking the British. She showed a tremendous amount of bravery when she walked 19 miles in the June heat just to tell Fitzgibbon (British officer at Beaver Dams) that an American attack was imminent.
  • Battle of Chateauguay

    Battle of Chateauguay
    Under Lt. Colonel Charles de Salaberry, the British were stationed in Canada. Major General Wade Hampton, American General, prepared to attack the part of lower Canada and dirverge the Brittish's attention so they could take control. The British won this battle, and halted the American attack at Montreal. In the picture is Salaberry.
  • Battle of Thames

    Battle of Thames
    At the Battle of Thames, General William Henry Harrison was attacked by the British and some Native Americans, such as Tecumsuh, whom was a troublesome tribal leader. The British were so out number by the American forces, that they were quickly shot down. Tecumsuh was killed during battle.
  • British captures Washington D.C.

    British captures Washington D.C.
    The British come in control of the Chesapeake Bay. They burn official government buildings including the White House.
  • Treaty of Ghent

    Treaty of Ghent
    The treaty that was signed in Ghent, Belgium, and ended the War of 1812. This restored antebellum America, and there was no land lost of given to either country due to the war.
  • Battle of New Orleans

    Battle of New Orleans
    The Battle of New Orleans was very significant because there was still fighting going on even after the war was declared "over". General Andrew Jackson was the man who led the US to a victory.
