The printing press was inroduced to the West in the Holy Roman Empire by Johannes Gutenberg. He was a goldsmith, and created a hand machine, the printer. How is worked was ink was rolled over surfaces with block letters in a wooden form which was copied onto paper.

Christopher Columbus was an Italian explorer of the Republic of Genoa. He completed four andentures across the Atlanic Ocean. Columbus had three main ships he sailed on his voyage to the Americas, the Nina, the Pina, and the Santa Maria. He was searching for a "new world" on his first voyage.

Vasco Da Gama was a Portugese explorer, who was the first European to get to Inda via sea. Da Gama connected Europe and Asia with the Atlantic and Indian ocean routes. This voyage was completed between 1497-1499. He wanted to accoplish imperalism and a colonial empire from Asia.

Michelangelo's David statue is a 17 foot marble carving of a nude man. The David is a represenation of a hero, David, that is now a favorite art in Florence. The artist was rewarded a contract to create the piece. It was finally presented on September 8, 1504.

Leonardo Da Vinci started painting the Mona Lisa in Florence, Italy. It was claimed to be finished in 1517. It was stolen on August 21, 1911. The culprit was an employee where the Mona Lisa was held, Vincenzo Peruggia. He believed the painitng should be presented in Italy, where is was made. He kept the painting for two years before anyone caught him.

The 95 Theses was written by Martin Luther in 1517. The theses are based of the Prodestant Reformation. This protests the selling of indulgences. Luther had the 95 Theses composed in Lation, and posted on the door of the Catholic Church.

This Spanish conquest was lead by Hernando Cortes. It began in February of 1519, and was declared a victory on August 13, 1521. Cortes had a big army, and defeated the Aztecs easily. With the aztec Empire his, and New Spain, which later became Mexico.

The Price, a book written by Niccolo Machiavelli was published in 1532. Written in the 16th century, versions of this story was handed out in 1513, and then it was published in 1532. This is a 26 chapter book. Machiavelli wanted princes to learn how to act and do as one. He also wanted people to learn the duties of a prince.

The Council of Trent was crreated by the Catholic Church, in Bologna, nothern Italy. There was to be twenty-five sessions held between 13 December 1545 and 4 December 1563. Pope Paul III held the first eight sessions, the twelfth and sixteenth sessions were oversaw by Pope Julius III, and the seventeenth to twenthy-fifth sessions held by Pope Pious IV

William Shakepeare lived through 26 April 1564 - 23 April 1616. Shakespeare was a poet, a playwright and an actor. He was know to England as the greatest writer in the English language. He was the author of 38 plays, 154 sonnets, two long narrative poems, and few other verses.
