The life of Ashley Martinez

  • The Day I Was Born

    The Day I Was Born
I was born on Janurary 7th, 1999. My mom calls it a lucky day, because I was born on the 7th, and that tends to be considered a lucky number. It even turned out to be my favorite number.

    Car Crash With the Family
When I was 4 years old, I was in a car accident with my family. It was a very traumatic experience, but luckily we survived. My mom had hit her head, so she had to get checked out for that and turned out okay. So did my brother, who had to get stomach surgery. I was safely in my child's seat, and only suffered damage on my bottom lip, which has a permanent scar. Since that day, we all try to not take life for granted.
  • First Day of Kindergarten

    First Day of Kindergarten
My first day of kindergarten was a very special day for me. I remember being so excited and feeling like a big, responsible kid. I made 2 amazing friends, Tatiana and Katherine. Unfortunately, I haven't seen them since, but I'd love to see how they're doing now.
  • First Birthday Party

    First Birthday Party
My first birthday party was at 7 years old. My mom planned it out with the help of my brother and her friends. It was strawberry short cake themed; very pink and lively. I remember being the most excited for the presents, but now I'm thankful for all the great memories I shared with great people that day.
  • First Time in Mexico

    First Time in Mexico
I was 7 years old on my first trip to Mexico. Most of my family is there, so I remember being very excited to finally get to meet my aunts, uncles, and cousins. We all had a great time as a family, bonding and going out to their favorite places there. I almost cried when we needed to head back to Arizona.
  • First Time at the Beach

    First Time at the Beach
A day that I'll especially always remember is the day I went to the beach for the first time with my family in Mexico. Before getting there, we got hit with a dust storm. Since there were no other cars on that road, my mom just kept going. She tells me to never attempt to do that and I definitely won't, but I admire how much she wasn't scared. We got to the beach safely and immediately went swimming. It was such a wonderful experience.
  • Going to San Francisco

    Going to San Francisco
In 2009, I went to San Francisco with my family who lives in California. It was so surreal driving through the Golden Gate Bridge, because I've seen it everywhere, from movies to magazines. The day was super cold, but it didn't stop us from having fun. We even went hiking, and the excitement didn't let us get tired.
  • Living in San Antonio

    Living in San Antonio
In 2011, my mom decided we would go live in San Antonio, Texas with our family there. I was very excited, while my brother was not, but he managed. The funny thing is that we only lasted 2 months there! Despite that, we still had a great time. We did something exciting with our family almost every day. But, we decided Arizona was definitely home, so we came back.
  • First Concert

    First Concert
The first concert I ever went to was in 2014, and it was an Ed Sheeran concert. I went with my friend, Belen, who invited me because she knew that I liked him as much as she did. We got amazing floor seats, and were very close to the stage. Ed Sheeran kept the energy going and sang extremely well, even when it was evident he was tired. By the end of it we couldn't feel our feet, but we didn't even care because we had such a great time.
  • Frappy

    Frappy
I got my dog November of last year. I've always wanted a pet so I was too excited for words. I truly believe he's the cutest dog in the world. When my mom and I were taking him home we tried thinking of a name. We passed a Starbucks and I jokingly said we should name him Frappuccino. So, we named him Frappy as a short version of that.
