Causes
There were many causes to the French Revolution , but there was 5 main causes . Here are some :
1.) France was bankrupt .
2.) The queen was wasting money .
3.) They had bad harvest and price for bread was up .

Meeting of the Estates General
King Louis called in a meeting to set things straight . The first 2 estates voted that only the 3rd estate would pay taxes .

National Assembly
King Louis called a meeting at Versailles , voting that the third estate would be the only one paying taxes . The third estate stormed out of Versailles and met at a nerby tennis court , naming theirselves the National Assembly .

Tennis Court Oath
Since King Louis locked theNational Assembly out of Versailles , they went to go meet at a nerby tennis court . The oath was a promise to keep meeting until the DRM was finshed .

The storming of the Bastille was the offical start of the Revolution , thousands of citzenes stormed the Bastille to get gun powder to defend theirselfes . This was the offical start of the French Revolution .

Declaration of Rights of Men ( DRM )
The National Assembly had a plan to create a document with rights the French people should have . They called this document the DRM .

Bread March
Thousnads of women from Paris Marched 12 miles to Versailles . They were armed in weapons , broomsticks , pitchforks and muskets . They wanted food , and they wanted King Louis 16th to sign the DRM .

The Royal Escape
The revolution had been going on for about 2 years ... The royal family was under house arrest in their palace in Paris . One night , King Louis and his family got into the royal carriage and using the cover of darkness they tried to escape to Austria , but they were spotted and captured and brought back to Paris .

Dissolution of the National Assembly
France was proclaimed a constitutional monarchy, while the National Assembly was dissolved and replaced by a new political body named the Legislative Assembly .

Attack on the Tuileries Palace
A crowd of about 20,000 people attacked the Tuileries Palace . The King and Queen had escaped the Palace and placed themselves under the protection of the Legislative Assembly .

The Reign of Terror was a time in which the National Assembly killed anyone who was against the revolution . The Reign of Terror ends with Maximillen Robespeere being sent to the guillatine .

Napoleon
By 1799 Napoleon overthrows the French government and becomes dictator of France . Napoleon leads his million man army and they took over most if Europe including Spain , Portugal , Holy Roman Empire , Prussia , Austria Empire , Italian States , and German states .
