Beginning our adventure, we caught the Bahamasair 230 flight to Nassau, Bahamas at 12:00AM on Saturday, January 11th, departing from Miami International Airport. We arrived in Lynden Pindling International Airport at 12:55AM.
-
Once we arrived in the airport, we caught a cab ride from the airport to Cable Beach from 12:56AM to 1:03AM.
-
Once we arrived at Cable Beach, we sped out into the ocean to go conch fishing. Though the area is now generally COMMERCIALIZED (transformed to be attractive to tourists), conch fishing is one of the Bahamas' long withstanding cultural traditions. Conch fishing is just one example of the CULTURAL ECOLOGY (the interactions between man and the environment) of the Bahamas. Conch is one of the Bahamas' largest EXPORTS (goods sent to be sold internationally), and important to Bahamian economy.
-
At 5:05, after conch fishing, we hopped back into the cab to return to the airport.

-
We caught British Airways 252 to London, England. Since the flight was 8 hours and 25 minutes, we slept on the plane. After a 2 hour 25 minute stop in London, we were on our way to Belgium on British Airways 402. We arrived at 5:06AM.
-
Once we arrived at the airport we caught a cab to Neuhaus Vlezenbeek from 5:07- 5:27AM.
-
After successfully producing a batch of chcolates at Neuhaus, we jumped in a cab to the Etap Hotel. We arrived at 9:37AM and slept until 3:37PM to prepare for our upcoming travel.
-
After we slept we left Etap hotel and caught a cab to the Brussels Airport at 3:38-3:59 A.M.
-
From 5:28- 7:28 A.M. we made choc olate. Chocolate making is a CUSTOM (a practice that a group of people follows) that Belgians have had in their CULTURE (the behaviors and beliefs characteristic of a particular social, or ethnic group) for centuries. The history of Belgian chocolate goes back to the 17th century. Back then Spanish explorers IMPORTED (bringing goods into a country) cocoa beans from South America. The Spanish nobility, who then ruled Belgium, liked cocoa as a luxury drink.
-
We boarded the plane at 4:00PM and flew from Brussels to Doha, Qatar on Qatar Airways 194.
-
After we left the airport we caught a cab to go to the Kabul fairgrounds.
-
From 5:00-7:30A.M. we were at the fairgrounds kite fighting. Kite fighting is a sport where two kites are in the air and they try to cut each other down with their glass rods. Kite fighting is a traditional sport in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, and the GHETTO (a part of a city with a minority group) of Brazil. This is an example of FOLK CULTURE (culture practiced by small, rural groups). This is just one out of the many TRAITS (The specific everyday customs) of Afghanistan.
-
After a brief stop, we got on Qatar Airways 616 to Islamabad, Pakistan.
-
Finally, we boarded Pakistan International Airways flight 249 and landed in Kabul, Afghanistan at 4:50AM.
-
We catch a cab from the fairgrounds to the airport so we can travel to our next destination.
