    Passed an Act that prevented its dissolution except by agreement of members. This parliament opposed Charles I.

    Charles I raised his own army and declared war on Parliament. The King's power had been questioned.

    Charles II was crowned King of England. Parliament had seclared that he was the rightful ruler after the execution of Charles I. This was seen as a relief from tyranny. Many expected future kings to exercise less power.
