    Christianity, or the belief and faith in Jesus, was the main religion during the renaissance. Christians were the opposers of Humanism, witchcraft, and virtually all other religions of the time. Churches were the main power supplies of all happenings.

    Muslim Influence
    The Muslim religion was the belief in one god, and that Mohammed was his prophet. Muslims were not located directly in Europe but had inflence in certain trade areas and such.

    The Spread of Paganism

    The Spread of Paganism
    Those considered "Pagans" ranged greatly. The word pagan originated form the Latin word "paganus" meaning rural, country dweller. Thus, being a pagan could mean you weren't a part of a church therefore you were considered an outsider, or rustic. Since outsiders to the church were so scarce, they became the pagans. Pagans were later associated with witches and witchcraft.

    Conciliarism
    A church system, or beliefs that opposed or were even against the pope. Conciliarists were more of a political types of people whom used a counsil rather than the pope. Concilarism did not remain a well practiced faith, and reached its condemnation very shortly in 1517.

    Ban On Supposed "Witchcraft"
    During the Elizibethan Era the "Witchcraft Act" was put into place stating "Agaynst conjuractions, inchantments, and witchcraftes." Witchcraft was used as a scape goat to blame unfortunate events on such as diseases, bad harvests. and even fires. You were accused of being a witch mostly if you were old, poor, unprotected, or widowed. If found guilty of being a witch execution was seemed a suiting punishment.

    Humanism is a system where the predominant concepts are human interests, values, and dignity. Humanism was at first a very rejected idea condidering it often rejects the idea of a god. However, humanism became greatly accepted and supported over time.
  • Protestant Reformation

    Protestant Reformation
    Reformation was the concept of rejecting the influence of the main churches. Perhaps the most famous figure of protestnt reformation was Martin Luther. Martin Luther was a german monk priest whom wrote a book with a great influence called "Ninety-Five Theses" This book suggested mainly that forgiveness for sins could be acheived financially rather then in the penance with good deeds.
