Question3: Media Technolgies Used

  • Period: to

    The Internet

Back in the 19th century if you wanted to research music videos you'd have to head to the library, crazy right? Well unlike media students of that 'twilight' century we have access to the internet (thanks, Al Gore). This was extremely useful for our group as it allowed us access to pretty much every music video, album cover and magazine advertisement ever created which we were able to analyse and draw inspiration from.
  • Period: to

    Blogger

After having spent last year using Blogger, I knew I'd have to come back to it this year with the skills I'd learnt and anyway it's not like I could of picked up Wordpress, no matter how flexible it is. Blogger allowed me to keep my teachers (and me) up to date on my work and has taught me how to use new technology (such as Prexi and TimeToast) to communicate with my audience.
  • GIF

    GIF
Just like images, GIF's help make each post more interesting and keep our audiences attention but unlike images they can move. This feature allowed us to compare two images very easily or even show a part of a music video without having to force our readers to watch the entire thing.
  • Youtube

    Youtube
Youtube is the largest video streaming site on the internet and therefore was our primary aource for music videos. Youtube has a large library of music video from user uploaded to companies such as Vevo who had paired with Youtube to release these music videos. Also because of Youtube's simplicty it allowed me to upload "The Process of Inside Digipak" very easily.
  • Vimeo

    Vimeo
Vimeo, which is very similar to Youtube as it allows users to share videos online to anyone. However unlike Youtube it does have a much smaller library but one of it's biggest features is the password implementation which force users to enter a password to view specific videos. This allowed us to be safe on the internet so as not to upload a video of ourselves easily accessible to anyone.
  • Prezi

    Prezi
Prezi provided us with a more "flashy" alternative to powerpoint as it is both flexible and attractive to audiences. It also allowed us to implement links, images and videos along with text which was really helpful.
  • Photoshop

    Photoshop
We used Photoshop to create the mood board and more importantly our ancillary products. Photoshop allowed for a degree of flexibilty and precision that made it the perfect tool for creating our products in.
  • Social Media: Twitter & Instagram

    Social Media: Twitter & Instagram
Social media was critical as it allowed us to reach our younger target audience very easily. Also these sites are very important as they provided us with the oppurtunity of keeping our audience up to date very easily in comparsion to Blogger.
  • TimeToast

    TimeToast
We used TimeToast as it enabled us to organise our production schedule which would be then saved onto this account, providing us access to it regardless of where we were.
  • Period: to

    Camera

During the production of our music video we used a video camera to film the footage, which was stored on a memory card. Also the still camera was used for behind-the-scenes shots and for ancillary work shots. And finally we used the flip camera for more behind-the-scenes and feedback interviews.
  • Photobucket

    Photobucket
Photobucket allowed us to store images on one place in which we could all gain access to and also allow us to present them in one singular form instead of having each image cluttering a post.
  • Gmail

    Gmail
We used Gmail as it allowed us to contact Starbucks about filming permission and also because it allowed us to use the email address to create Twitter, Instagram, Prezi, TimeToast, etc for the group to use.
  • Period: to

    Final Cut Pro

Final Cut Pro allowed us to edit our footage into making our music video. We believed it was the perfect tool as it allowed us to do exactly what we want with precision and with ease.
  • Google Drive: Presentation

    Google Drive: Presentation
Google Drive was also extremely helpful as it allowed me to save my work on the cloud providing me with constant access to it regardless of where I was. Also It's presentation feature provided me with the tools to create a slideshow which I could easily upload to Blogger.
  • Camtasia

    Camtasia
Camtasia allowed me to record my own screen to allow me to present how I made my digipak in video format. It also allowed me to record myself so I could speak directly to the audience.
