I was born in McAllen, TX to Brad and Jan DeHaven.
-
As a clergy family, we were moved by the Bishop semi-often.
-
I started Kindergarten at Ed Downs Elementary.
-
Braedon is my little brother! He was probably the coolest thing anyone could ever bring to kinder show-and-tell.
-
In San Antonio, my dad served St. Andrew's UMC. I attended Thousand Oaks Elementary school for 1st - 5th grades.
-
Spent some of my most formative childhood years in Mrs. Hicks GT class for 4th and 5th grade. She was the first one to hold me to a standard that said "doing it right" isn't good enough; challenging yourself so you grow is what's "good enough," if that is even a thing.
-
I attended Omar N. Bradley MS for 6th and 7th grade.
-
For my 12th birthday, my Mom took me to the American Girl Place in Chicago. To this day, that's one of my favorite memories. <3
-
Here, I started 8th grade! My dad served Canyon Lake UMC. I met some of my closest friends this year including Shelby, Katy, Taylor, Rachel, and Jordan. These would remain my best friends through high school.
-
Savannah is the birthplace of Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of Girl Scouts. I took several trips to Savannah with my mom and a few Girl Scout friends. Lots of memories made <3
-
Here, some friendship dynamics changed as they do with most new highschoolers. I attended CLHS all four years of high school where I took as many advanced (AP and Pre-AP) classes as I could.
-
I convinced my dad to take me to Romania on a mission trip when his professor at SMU gave a presentation about it in church. We went! I had goals of creating an idea for my Girl Scout Gold Award while here... I met Pastor Dinu, his wife, Gabriela; his two sons, Ravis and Gadiel; and his entire congregation.
-
After 2 years of fundraising, I was picked up at the International Airport in Transylvania by Rev. Dinu and his family in the new 9 Passenger van that I had bought. The van was for his congregation to use to help transport anyone to/from church or church events.
-
I raised $21,000 for a 9 passenger transporting van for the congregation that I met in Romania.
-
I admit, we were a small school with my graduating class of only 200, but I worked several long nights for those grades... In a way, they paid off.
-
El Rancho Cima is a Boy Scout camp! For the majority of the summer I taught the Geocaching Merit Badge, but I also taught Fire Safety, Hiking, Backpacking, and Forestry. Here I solidified that I wanted to teach :)
-
Here I have grown so much! I made my life long friends and met Will, my current boyfriend of 2 years :) My eyes have been opened to so much beyond just my life and my passion for children has only grown... I want to study Dual Language Education and how it could improve the USA's education system...
-
I taught 4 full classes a day of First Aid! Here I started to gain a little confidence in instruction and classroom management.
-
I am starting my 3rd year at SU! I love it here! I admit, I am a little intimidated but I'm sure this will be a great year!
