    The African Church is founded

    Founded as a result of disagreement in the Anglican Church between missionaries and a group of African Christians over indigenous leadership. Jacob Coker led people out of the Anglican Church due to the mistreatment of Africans in a predominantly white church.

    The first service of the African Church and appointed officers. A few days later, the first divine service under rose cottage canopy.

    For about a decade, the church strived to combine with other churches and spread their message. When the attempts failed, they faced an internal crisis.
  • Resolution considered

    In an attempt to combine churches, a resolution in 1931 left the African Church, the United Native African Church (UNA), and the United African Methodist Church (UAM), at a crossroads of no representative of the African Church within the club.
  • Withdrawal of Resolution

    A resolution that considered an appeal made by the African Church in December of 1933 created resolution that in consideration of all churches, the African Church may join the union of African churches and promote combine.
