    Earliest evidence of Aboriginal Australians

    Earliest evidence of Aboriginal Australians
Australia’s earliest known site of human occupation was discovered in a remote cave, Western Australia. Archaeologists that were led by the Western Australian University found different artifacts like charcoal, animal remains, fossils and other ancient artifacts that confirmed that there were hunters living in the caves (weapons). One of the main resources used to confirm the settlement were the wall paintings painted with ochre and other natural paints.

    Mungo Man and Mungo Lady

    Mungo Man and Mungo Lady
Mungo Lady and Mungo Man are possibly the most important human remains ever found in Australian history. Their discovery completely changed people's conceptions of Australia including the ancient story of this land and its people. These old ritual burials of people are some of the oldest remains of modern humans to be ever found outside of Africa. Mungo Lady is the oldest known cremation (ashes of a corpse) in the world. They are named 'Mungo' as they were found buried inside dry Lake Mungo.

    Otzi the Iceman

    Otzi the Iceman
Otzi is a well- preserved mummy who was found by two German tourists in 1991 at the Otzal alps. He is the oldest, intact mummy man that was mummified due to freezing. After further research had commenced, it was found that Otzi had a head injury prior to his death. It was proved that Otzi lived during the copper ages (his possessions and clothing were sent to laboratories for testing). Many life- size replicas have been made and are exhibited in museums all over the world.

    Mesopotamian Cuneiform

    Mesopotamian Cuneiform
Cuneiform is from the Latin root word cuneus, meaning "wedge," it is the word used for a form of writing which used a wedge-shaped stylus to make impressions on a clay surface as well as on stone, metal and wax. Most of the clay tablets were sun-baked, making the surviving tablets very fragile. It's called the 'Mesopotamian Cuneiform' as it was the Sumerians of Mesopotamia that discovered this style. Mesopotamian scribes recorded daily events, trade, astronomy, and literature on clay tablets.

    Great Pyramid of Giza

    Great Pyramid of Giza
The Great Pyramid of Giza, otherwise known as the Pyramid of Khufu or the Pyramid of Cheops, is not only the largest and oldest pyramid out of the three pyramids in the complex but also in the world. The pyramid was built as a tomb for Pharaoh Khufu once he died (the Egyptians built tombs for their rulers and buried them there as a remembrance of them). All of the bricks to build the pyramid were hauled up by hand. The Great Pyramid of Giza is one of the seven world wonders of the ancient world.

    Narrabeen Man Death

    Narrabeen Man Death
The Narrabeen Man was stabbed with multiple spears and was murdered in the town of Narrabeen: It is thought that Narrabeen man was not initiated (he did not have his two front teeth knocked out) and he walked into another group's territory. This would have been considered a wrong doing and the way to punish people back then for doing wrong was to spear them. Once the Narrabeen Man was found, it was proven that he was speared as there were an array of different spears heads embedded in his bones.
  • First Fleet

    First Fleet
The first fleet carried the first white settlers to Australia and also held convicts as the prisons were all full in England (many people did not have enough money and stole, this left no room in jails). The First Fleet consisted of 11 ships: 6 for convicts, 2 navy ships and 3 ships for food and other goods to kick start a colony. The voyage was directed by Captain Arthur Phillip, the ships traveled to Botany Bay which Captain James Cook had already claimed. The voyage was three months long.
  • Eureka Stockade

    Eureka Stockade
The Eureka Stockade was known as the start of democracy as it was when the miners got to have their say. This event occurred as the government made the miners pay more money, more frequently as license fee. Many miners couldn't afford the fee that was to be paid and the license was to be carried with them at all times,or they would face a fine. The miners rebelled and built a stockade on Bakery Hill with their flag in the middle (they all swore an oath by the flag), their leader was Peter Lalor.

Edmund Barton being elected Prime Minister of Australia/ Federation
Federation was an extremely important day in the history of Australia as we would be living a completely different life if we had not federated. Before Federation, Australia was six different British colonies and this made day to day living difficult (goods could not be easily passed on and transported to different colonies as the railway tracks were different). Edmund Barton was also elected the ‘First Prime Minister of Australia' as he played a crucial role to make federation a reality.
  • The day I was born

    The day I was born
This was the day I came into my parent’s life and the day my life journey started as well. The day I was born was " the most stressful yet best day "of my parent's lives. I am a premature baby (by a whole month) and my mum had to undergo an emergency caesarean as I was in distress. I was born around 8 o'clock in the morning. I think that this day was pretty special because usually when babies are premature there is sometimes a complication and I think that I am pretty lucky to be perfectly fine.
  • First day of school

    First day of school
I was very excited on my first day of school as I was willing to learn new things and I was ready to start my 13- year long education at Westminster. Another thing I can remember is being keen about meeting other kids to play with. My parent say I was a happy kid, settled into school very well and made lots of friends. I think that the first day of school is a big event as it is not only a special day to me but also my family members who consider it like a milestone.
  • My 10th Birthday

    My 10th Birthday
I was more excited than usual as it is was the first day my age was becoming a double digit. My parents got me 10 surprise gifts that I opened as soon as I woke up, they were the gifts that I wanted and my parents kept refusing for few months. The only sad part about the whole experience was I woke up with very high temperature so missed school and that evening my family party needed to end early. A few days later, I had my party with my school friends at Bounce and we all had so much fun.
  • Day that I found out that I got the Scholarship

Day that I found out that I got the Scholarship
This was the day I returned from Year 7 Camp and my mum played a prank saying that they received a concern note from the Principal and I have to provide my explanation by Monday. I remember my hands trembling while picking up the letter and I could not believe my eyes of what I was reading. My mum recorded the whole scene and sent it to my family members and it is a huge achievement as I put in lots of effort. I am grateful that I was considered as a worthy candidate and can’t wait to give back.
