    "On the Spirit of Laws", was written Montesquieu. During the Enlightenment, it pushed for separation of power within the government and the abolishment of slavery. It also influenced the American government, separating into three branches and creating a system of checks and balances.

    The Haitian Revolution took place in the French colony of Saint-Domingue. There were lots of slaves due to the rop sugar cane, that requires a lot of work. The slave to French men ratio was 100 to 1. Due to this the slaves successfully revolted, and Haiti was created. Slavery then was abolished there.

    Padre Hidalgo, a well-educated priest from Dolores, led the natives to rebel by ringing the church bells at a different time than usual. He then was captured and executed.

    Napoleon's last battle was the battle of Waterloo. He was defeated when he hesitated as the grass was wet. The British and Prussians had time to ambush them, and Napoleon was defeated.
