Over the summer, I suddenly made a bold decision to move out of state with my grandmother. I always loved Maryland when I would come to visit her over the summer.

My first day at HCC, I was excited and ready for a new start!

I was waiting for a class when I was sitting next to a guy, and he was really annoying. I was trying to relax and he was creating music!

I started working at Abercrombie & Fitch, and til this day I really enjoy it. Except, I think I'm kind of too "woke," for my co-workers.

I wear headwraps and turbans in public, as a reminder of an obligation I have to myself and to show modesty. One day I was going to take a test, in the testing center, but before I did, the lady told me to take off my headwrap. I was hesitant, and I asked again if I had to. She said yes and at that moment, that changed me. I was so upset at the world I live in today.

I'm in the process of learning y culture/background. Reading more on African- American culture. Just finding my place.
