This was a very important day to me because I was becoming one of the first individuals in my family to graduate from high school.

As a first generation college student I was accepted in the Summer Bridge EOP program at California State University San Marcos. This program prepared me for what was coming ahead. I made great friends and learned about the resources the university offered to help me be successful.

I was very nervous and wasn't very confident but I had a goal in mind and I knew that if I did my best I would be okay.

This was the amazing day when I walked and made my mother proud. The hard work had paid off and I was ready for my next challenge.

After working with two amazing teachers and a great supervisor I completed the requirements to obtain my teaching credential.

The principal at the school where I completed my student teaching hired me as an At-Will teacher. I supported small groups of struggling students.

I was hired as a full time second grade teacher. I was very nervous but I was ready to be a full time teacher and have been a teacher with the Escondido Union School District ever since!

I was honored as the EEEA Teacher of the Year!

With the new Common Core State Standards I find that there is a lot for me to learn to better support my students, and thus I enrolled in USD Self-Paced online classes.
