  • America Declares War on Britain

    America Declares War on Britain
    The British Navy had impressed around 6,000 American mariners by 1812. This angered Congress so they declared war on Britain.
  • Hull's Proclamation

    Hull's Proclamation
    General William Hull had invaded Canada and attempted to persuade the people there to fight for him, against the British, with his proclamation. It didn't work out as planned and soon war broke out.
  • General Hull Surrenders

    General Hull's Proclamtion backfired, causing him and his army to retreat to Fort Detriot. Eventually, he surrendered to Isaac Brock on August 16th, 1812.
  • Raisin River Massacre

    Raisin River Massacre
    Also called the Battle of Frenchtown, this was a series of battles from January 18th - 23rd, 1813. Americans were winnig the fight against the British-Native alliance when the alliance had planned a counter attack that killed 400 Americans and about 550 were taken prisoner. On the 23rd, the Native Americans slaughtered dozens of the prisoners. The alliance had won.

    The Battle of York, present-day Toronto, was an American victory. The American troops captured, then burned, the capital of the province of Upper Canada.
  • Siege of Fort Meigs

    Siege of Fort Meigs
    Britain and Native American forces attacked Fort Meigs from April 28th to May 9th. The British-Native alliance had won the battle for Fort Meigs with almost 900 less casualties and captures.
  • Laura Secord

    Laura Secord
    Laura Secord had heard of plans of an American suprise attack on the British on June 21st, 1813. He reportedly walked 20 miles to warn the British of this attack. She wasn't recognized until 1860 where KKing Edward the VII awarded her 100 euros for her efforts.
  • Charles de Salaberry

    Charles de Salaberry
    Out-numbered, Salaberry and his men were able to trick the enemy into thinking they were a much larger force than they actually were at the Battle of the Chateauguay. He managed to push back General Hampton and his troops back behind the American border.
  • Tecumseh's Death

    Tecumseh's Death
    Tecumseh was a Native American leader for the tribe Shawnee. He had grown up with war in his life, and used that to be the amazing fighter he was. He had helped the Britsh in many ways such as captureing Fort Detroit. In the Battle of Thameshe was killed by attacking American troops.

    Peace talks begin in Ghent.
  • Treaty of Ghent is Signed

    Treaty of Ghent is Signed
    Finally the Treaty of GHent was signed, which ended the War of 1812.
