    In 1494 King Charles invaded Italy and started a domino effect of battles for the next couple of years. The war was started because both France and Spain wanted power over the Italian peninsula.

    Martin Luther took stand against Friar Johan by writing 95 statements criticising the church. Luther saw that the church was selling indulgences and thought it was best to say something.

    Pesants war
    The Peasant's war took place in Germany when people of lower class became disrupted by high tax rates and lack of power. This was around the same time reformation preachers were preaching the idea of freedom. In response to the poor treatment peasants were receiving, thousands of german peasants stormed castles. This is known more commonly as the 'Rebelion of the Peasants'

    Jesuit order Founded

    Pope, Paul III approved the jesuit order as well as completing 3 other steps in order to reform the catholic church. He took these steps in the years he lead, 1534-1549

    John Calvin's institutes of the Christian Religion

    Joh Calvin published the book "Institutes of Christian Religion" in order to easily express his ideas about god, salutation and human nature. In this book, John Calvin claimed that men and women are sinful by nature.

    Peace of Augsburg

    Peace of Augsburg was the first settlement which stated that the ruler should determine the religion of their state. The settlement was formed when Charles v argued against the protestant princes over which religion should be practiced in the vast majority of the empire.

    Scotland becomes Calvinist

    John Knox wanted to bring Calvins ideas into Scotland after listening to him preach in Geneva. Around the 1560s, Calvinism became Scotlands official religion.

    Council of Trent

    Council of Trent was called by Pope Paul III. In northern Italy, 1545, a group of cardinals and Catholic Bishops came together and decided big decisions as a group.
