Intellectual movement in late 17th century to 18th century where philospher s used reason and the scientific method to learn about things because they wanted to know more about the world . this event started in europe but eventually spread throughout the globe. -
French Revolution
The French Revolution was from 1789 to 1799. it wasan overthrow of the government that was taking place before the french revolution. This revolution included manychanges to governments and rulers such as the ruling of Napoleon and also the Directory. The french revolution mostly took place in France but also effected many other countries as well. this revolution happened because there were a majority of peole in the third estate that were not pleased with the government. -
Formation of National Assembly
A group of people made up of the 3rd estate that was formed to pass lawsa and reforms inthe name of french people this event took place in France. -
Tennis Court Oath
The oath was made by the national assembly in a tennis court. the oath basically said that they would keep meeting until they could dreate a new constitution for the french people. this happened because when the assembly formed they were locked out of other meeting buildings so they met in the tennis court and this also happened because the 3rd esate was not treated well which is why the National Assembly was made up of mostly people from the 3rd estate. -
Haitian Revolution
It took place in 1791-1804. It was a slave revoltin the french colony Saint Domingue. This happpened because the slave wanted to be free. -
Reign of Terror
the reign odf terror was from 1793 to 1794. That time period was very violent the death toll in this period was very high and there were many executions by Guillotine. Most french people in this period were scared and a main person in charge f the executions during this time was a guy named Maximillen Robespierre. This event happened because many people wee afraid of him. -
Creation of the Haitian Constitution of 1801
This event was when a Haitian constitutionwas established by L'Ouverture. the constitution abolished svaery and declared that all citizens had equal rights ( also saying that eveeryone from Saint Domingue was now a French citizen. the constitution also outlawed the practice of Voodoo. This constitution was viewed as a threat to Napoleon and he refused to recognize it at all. The constitution was established because the slaves were being treated bad and that made there be many revolts. -
Industrial Revolution
The revolution took place from 1820-1840. The revolution was change to the process of manafacturing things. the production of things went from hand made to machine made throughout the time period of the industrial revolution. the revolution began in Britiain and spread to other parts of europe and north america. the people taking place in this were workers and factory ownwers. this happened so that the production ogf necessary things was dealt with faster. -
Opium War
This event went on over a period of time starting in around 1839 and went to 1842. This was a conflict between China and Britain over Britain's opium trade in China. This war went on primarily in China. -
Matthew Perry goes to Japan
This event is when Commodore Matthew Perry ,who was apart of the U.S. Navy, went to japan to discuss with them trading oppurtunities. Perry brought a letter with him from President Fillmore asking Japan to start trading . He said he would return in a year with a larger ship for the reply . This led to Japan signing the Treaty of Kanagawa in 1854. That treaty basically said that japan would open 2 ports and let the u.s. have an embassy in Japan. This event led to Japan becoming less isolated -
Sepoy Mutiny
This event all started when there are rumors about cartridges for indian soldier's ,under british command, riffles that use beef and pork fat that goes against many indian religions. This event is basically a rebellion of Muslim and Hindu soldiers against the british in india. When the british started to arrest sepoys the new spread and therefore started the rebellion. -
Meiji Era (Restoration)
This era was from 1868 to 1912. This was a Japanese Era of time where imperialism was happening. The time of this era was when the country was going from its old, isolated, feudal times country to a modern form of Japan. Changes were made to all parts of the country including government and society.The ruler during this era was named Mutsuhito who was the emperor of Japan. This happened because the empire needed to be modernized to become a better country. -
Berlin Conference
This event happened from 1884 to 1885. This event was a meeting at which representatives of european antions agreed upon rules for european colonization of Africa. this event happened because in the time period were lots of imperialization was happening europe wanted many places including Africa so they all agreed on how to split it up. -
Boxer Rebellion
This event was a 1900 rebellion in China aimed at ending the foreign influence in the country. This event was caused by an incerase of imperialism in China which caused the country to have alot of foreign influence. This war included mostly chines people. -
Parition Of India
This event is basically the independence of india from the british Raj. the indian population tryed to seperate itself from the british poulation. this happened because the indians din't really like the foreign influence.
