  • Getting our Groups

We got our groups today and assigned people as follows:
    Matt: Techie
    Donnie: Scribe
    Angelica: Engineer
We think the project has to do with a catapult!

    The Beginning

  • Create Catapult

Today we created our catapult and got to play around with it some. It was pretty fun! We noticed that the further we pull it back the further and higher the ball goes. Ms. Fry was right, the projectile path does look like a parabola and this project reminds us of the word problems we've been doing in class.

    The Experiment

  • Experiment

Today we performed our experiment and recorded our data in the spreadsheet. Matt did an awesome job with the spreadsheet and our data is really cool. Our values for a in each table were close which is what should happen to give us a final formula.
  • Test

Today we tested our formula. It didn't quite go as planned and we ended up missing the target by six inches, but our prediction was better then some other ones. We think we missed because the catapult got stuck on Angelicas' fingers when she pulled it back. We're sure that our formula is right because we tested it agian afterwards.
  • Draft

Today we started a storyboard of our presentation. We think it's has a good flow.

    Wrapping Up

  • Rehearsal

Today we practiced giving our presentation in front of another group. The other group like our presentation but said we needed to be more fluent and speak better. They said our math needed to be explained in better detail, so we will work on that tomorrow.
  • Presentation

Our presentation went well and we think we did a good job.
  • Blog Post

Today we reflected on what we learned and created a blog post to tell about how we can use quadratic equations in real life.
