    Andreas Vesalius and Leonardo Da Vinci completed the first dissection of the human body in the 1300s. Along with this they made the first anatomical drawings.

    In the eighteenth century Benjamin Franklin discovered that colds could be passed from person to person.

    • Louis Pasteur discovered pasteurization, this is when you heat up milk to prevent the growth of bacteria.
    • Robert Koch is known as the "Father of Microbiology." He discovered many disease causing organisms.
    • Florence Nightingale started the first school of nursing, this made nursing an honorable profession.
    • Sigmund Freud discovered and made the studies of psychology and psychiatry. These are the studies of the mind and body and how they work together.

    Alexander Fleming discoverd penicillin, which is the first antibiotic. This was one of the biggest discoveries in the twentieth century.

    Albert Sabin discovered and/or created the oral polio vaccine. This vaccine is more effective than Jonas Salk's vaccine.
