  • Hull's Proclamation

    Hull's Proclamation
    General William Hull issued thia proclamation to the residents of Upper Canada to try to get them to fight with the U.S against the British. This proclamation ended up backfiring and he ended up giving up Detroit to the British on August 16, 1812 to Isaac Brock.
  • Siege of Detroit

    Siege of Detroit
    The British troops were led to victory by Sir Isaac Brock, a commander of forces in upper Canada. They were against US and became allies with the Native Americans under their leader Tecumseh, which caused William Hull to surrender.
  • Battle of Queenston Heights

    Battle of Queenston Heights
    This battle was a victory for the British. The battle ended the second American attempt to invade Canada. General Sir Isaac Brock was the British Commander while the Americans were under Generals Stephen Van Rensselaer and Alexander Smyth.

  • Laura Secord

    Laura Secord
    Laura Secord was a Canadian Heroine that overheard a conversation about the Americans surprising the British at Beaver Dams. She walked about 20 miles to warn the British forces of the impending American attack.

    After losing many major battles the American troops wanted to win. The Americans attacked on the Thames river. The Americans won, killing Native Cheif Tecumseh.
  • Battle of Chateauguay

    The Canadian and British forces were outnumbered while trying to deffend Lower Canada from the American attack. Even though outnumbered the Americans still lost mostly because of Salaberry's Militia. After losing the battle the Americans decided to stop their campaign along the St. Lawerence.

    The Canadian and British forces were outnumbered 8000-900, but they still managed to win against the Americans. By the afternoon the Americans were disorganized and almost out of ammo, which forced them to retreat back across the river.

    The Treaty of Ghent ended the War of 1812. Prisoners were released and thousands of acres of land was given back to both sides.
