Mansa Musa was one of the greatest kings of Africa. He doubled the size of the Mali kingdom. On his pigrimage to Mecca, he gave some of his gold away to every person he saw. He was the last powerful ruler of Mali.

Mansa Musa's goverment system was so successful that famous writer Ibn Battua, found "complete and general saftey" in the land of Mali even twelve years after Musa's death.
