    James Quinn, 5 Priests and 6 Irish Sisters of Mercy came to Brisbane.

    St James School for boys was established. This was the first all boys school.

    James Duick saw a need for catholic education and established 28 new schools.

    WW2 Poverty
    Australia was in poverty because of war. Catholic education was effected by the lack of teachers, growing class sizes and economic challenges. Some schools waived fees but no schools shut down. This started in 1929 and went until 1945

    Father Berneter Shay was chosen to be a Diocese Inspector. His job lasted until 1948.

    Laws were made to keep Church and State separate from each other. By the end of the decade 35 catholic schools were built and funded. St Mary of the Cross Mackillop and the Sisters of St Joseph arrived in Brisbane and started teaching.
