    in the 1920's a series of laws, the closed districts ordinances placed tight controls on access to the south, the nuba mountains, darfur and southern blue nile, whose peoples - after pacification - were now regard as needing protection

  • SDFEC Mutnies

    SDFEC mutined in Tori and several other cities sending false telegrams from the South to the North. All in effort to get the North to further oppress the South.
  • Ibraham Abboud Seizes Power.

    General Ibraham Over throws the Prime Minister and siezes power.
  • Peace Treaties

    In order to put their fighting to bed, General Ibraham signs peace treaties with Uganada and Ethiopia. After burning bridges with the East and West. General Ibraham looked to the South to expnd his limited powerbase.
  • Protest To The Governmet

    The hatred of the military goverment led to protest and eventually the creation of a care-taker government in 1964.
  • 1966 - 1969

    Between the years on 1966 through 1969, several islamist-dominated administrations proved that they were unfit to deal with the variety of ethnic, economic & many other problems that were plaguing the country of Sudan.
  • Col. Gaafar Comes Into Power

    On May 2th, 1969 Col. Gaafar Nimeiry became Prime Minister & outlawed political parties altogether.
  • It's Come Down To This

    In 1971, Former army lieutenant Joseph Lagu gathered all guerilla band under his Sudan Movement. The 1st time in Sudan history in which a unified movement was able to speak for the entire South.
  • Here comes the conflict

    Oil was discovered in Southern Sudan. Yet it did not come a producing country until the late 1990's.
  • Here comes the North

    Northern Sudan was quick to tap into the South's oil. In the late 1980's, The North had 6 oil pumps installed. While the north was indulging on the oil, South was being ravaged by famine and disease.
