  • Founding of Discordianism

    The Discordian Society was founded in 1958 by Greg Hill and Kerry Wendell Thornley. This event marks the beginning of the Discordianism religion.

  • Publication of Principia Discordia

    Greg Hill and Kerry Wendell Thronley publish the holy book called Principia Discordia. At the time, both authors went under the alias Malaclypse the Younger and Omar Khayyam Ravenhurst.

  • First Pope

    Greg Hill was declared the first Pope of Discordia, taking the name Pope Cardboardus I. This marks the first Pope and person considered as one of the heads of the religion.

  • Discordian Anti-Pope

    Greg Hill established the Office of Discordian Anti-Pope, which is also known as the Discordina Papacy

  • Publication of Illuminatus! Trilogy

    Written by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson, the "Illuminatus! Trilogy" was published and adopted by "Discordians" due to its theme of Discordianism.

  • Publication of Zen Without Zen Masters

    Camden Benares published the book, "Zen Without Zen Masters" which depicts koans, stories, and exercises of a Discordian nature.

  • Burning the Beard

    Malaclypse the Younger (Alias of Gregory Hill) publicly burned his beard as an act of defiance and as a symbol of Discordian rebellion.

  • New Age Discordianism

    The emergence of Discordianism on the internet, with online forums and communities joining its principles of chaos, humor, and subversion.
