    Treatment Available
In 1937, gonorrhea began to be treated by antibiotics. Sulfonamides were the first option for treatment until penicillin. Penicillin is still the main treatment choice, however doctors and scientists are trying to find new treatments because gonorrhea still has millions of cases every year.
