    Tennis Court Oath
    When the third estate delegates were locked out of the meeting room, they broke down a door leading into a tennis court, there they made an oath to stay until they had drawn up a new constitution.
  • Storming the Bastille

    Storming the Bastille
    Rumors spread in Paris that Louis XVI was intent on using military force to dismiss the National Assembly. People began to gather weapons to defend the city, so on July 14, a mob searching for gunpowder and arms stormed the Bastille, a prison in Paris. The mob overwhelmed the guard and seized control of the building.
  • The Great Fear

    The Great Fear
    Rebellion began to spread from Paris to the countryside. From village to village, rumors spread that nobles were hiring outlaws to terrorize the peasants, then the senseless panic known as the Great Fear rolled through France. Peasants then armed themselves with pitchforks and other farm tools and broke into the nobles' manor houses and destroyed the old legal papers that bound them to pay feudal dues.

    On August 26th, the National Assembly decrees the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen.

    Women decide to lead delegation to the king in Versailles demanding bread. After scuffles, they are fobbed off by the king.

    Louis and Marie try to escape France
    Louis and Marie felt the need to escape to Varennes from Paris, what they did was they disgused themselves as servants and almost crossed the border but were recognized and were forcibly returned to Paris.
  • The Constitution of 1791 is drafted

    The Constitution of 1791 is drafted
    Months after being returned to Paris, the king formally accepts the Constitution.

    The Convention elected by the Legislative Assembly commences, and monarchy is abolished.

    When Robespierre came to power, he became practically a dictator, when he believed there were so many "enemies" to the revolution, he executed over 40,000 innocents. The Convention calls for his arrest, and then he was tried and executed.
  • The Directory takes power

    The Directory takes power
    The Convention dissolves itself in favor of a dictatorship of the Directory.
