King Louise held a meeting where people from all the estates came to discuss important issues in their country.
-
Robes Pierre and the other members of the 3rd estate found themselves locked out of the meeting, so they took it upon themselves to have their own meeting, and formed a group called the National Assembly.
-
The National Assembly decreed that they would not stop meeting until a new constitution was formed- one with more rights and equality.
-
The people on the rebel side sparked revolution when they stormed the Bastille, destroying it brick by brick. Their purpose was to shoe that they were a real rebellion, and that they could do a lot of damage.
-
The National Assembly put together this declaration to say what rights they wanted, such as democracy and freedom of press. This was a final separation from the Old Regime.

-
The revolution takes a more radical turn when the King is killed for his many convictions including treason and mistreatment of the people. He is killed by the guillotine and made a big scene of his death.
-
With Robespierre as the main ruler, 12 men rule the entire country of France, but many don't agree with their rulings as they slowly move away from revolution ideals
-
Robespierre starts his mass killing spree by executing anyone who doesn't agree with his ideals of the revolution. He reasons that the only way for the rev to succeed is to eliminate all the enemies, so he justify the mass murder
-
Instead of just reducing the power of the church, Robespierre decides to get rid of it all together by stealing money from the church and renaming streets, getting rid of holidays and the calendar, and many other things
-
The reign of terror comes to a close with the killing of Robespierre. Everything is less strict and intense as before and Christianity returns to france
-
After the Reign of terror was over, everyone was too afraid to do something drastic, so the Directory, a group of people, served as the interim government of France
-
Napoleon had been a strong military leader, and took over the government with help of the army. There wasn't really any resistance because the people were looking for a strong leader
-
Napoleon reestablishes a connection with the church allowing the people to practice their religion but also making sure that the church has no say in state affairs.
-
The Napoleonic code was a set of rules that helped to eliminate injustices and to create a good set of laws. But the downside was it eliminated a bunch of individual rights and freedoms, and also legalized slavery.
-
Napoleon takes the role of emperor meaning that he is more powerful then the pope and the people don't like this decision.
-
Napoleon was good leader in some parts but also did a lot of bad things. The people decided he was no longer a fit ruler for France and he was banished to an island where he eventually died.
