  • Montesquieu publishes book, "On the Spirit of Laws"

    "The Spirit of Laws" was published anonymously and was a treatise on political theory. In "The Spirit of Laws" Montesquieu was in favor of a constitutional system of government and the seperation of powers, the end to slavery, and preservation of civil liberties amd the law.
  • America declares independence

    The Declaration of Independence is a statement adopted by the Continentel Congress, which stated that the thirteen colonies are indpendent.
  • French Revolution

    The French Revoulution began when Louis VII created Unconstutional laws toward the French people. This upset the people causing multiple revolts which led to the French Revolution.
  • Napoleon overthrows the Directory through a coup d’etat

    Napoleon overthrew the Directory and the established the French Consulate. The French Consulate ended after his defeat at the Battle of Waterloo.
  • Napoleon crowns himself emperor, begins to create a vast European Empire

    After Napoleon is emperor, he takes avantage of how much France needs help, by crowning himself emperor. He trys to expand the French by retaking the Americas.
  • Haiti wins freedom from France

    Haiti wins freedom from France with a slave revolt in the French colony of Saint-Domingue. This led to the ending of slavery and the freedom of Haitian people.
  • Padre Hidalgo calls for Mexican Independence

    Padre Hidalgo was a Mexican priest who was a leader of the Mexican War of Independence.
  • Napoleon is defeated at the Battle of Waterloo

    Napoleon's army was defeated by the armies of the Seventh Coalition. His defeat at Waterloo ended his rule as Emperor of the French.
