  • Battle of Tippecanoe Creek

    William Henry Harrison, marched 1,100 men along the Wabash toward Tecumseh's town. Shortly after dawn Harrison's soldiers were attacked. There was a two-hour battle and in the end the natives were forced to flee and their villiage was burned. This event was important because it convinced Indians that they needed British help to prevent American settlers from pushing them further out of their lands
  • 1st Crossing into Canada

    The U.S. was defeated after Brock and Tecumseh's forces chased those lead by Michigan William Hull across the Canadian border. Brock and Tecumseh were able to scare Hull into surrendering without any shots fired.
  • 2nd Crossing into Canada

    Gen. Stephen Van Renselaer wasn’t able to persuade his militia to cross the U.S.-Canada border. A small group of troops went into Canada and was shot down and forced to surrender while Van Rensellaer’s troops stood by and watched.This is important because it was one of the first times that the U.S. invaded Canada and were forced to flee.

    Gen. “Apocalypse” Smythe ordered his troops twice to cross the Niagara, both times failing in his courage and calling off the attacks. Coming back from the second attempt, the soldiers turned their weapons on Smythe, forcing him to leave Virginia.This event is important because it was another failed attempt to take Canada and it turned soldiers on their general.

    Commander Oliver Perry captured a British fleet on Lake Erie
    Perry went to war with the British on Lake Erie. This event is important because the U.S. gained the entire lake and got Fort Detroit back.
  • Napoleon's defeat in Europe

    Napoleon's defeat in Europe
    After winning the Battle of Borodino, Napoleon entered Moscow. The harsh winter killed most of men. He had to retreat due to the scorched earth policy. This is important because after losing so many men, he needed a new army. Treaties were signed for peace in Europe for 20 years.
  • The British attack Washington D.C.

    The British attack Washington D.C.
    The British raided Chesapeake Bay and moved into the U.S. capital, capturing Washington D.C. The British also burned the Captiol and the White House. This event was important because the U.S. lost their capital and the British now had control of Chesapeake Bay.
  • British attack Baltimore

    Baltimore's Fort McHenry withstood 25 hours of bombardment from the British Navy. This event is important because the British left Chesapeake Bay and Francis Scott Key wrote "The Star-Spangled Banner".
  • Battle of New Orleans

    The British did not know that peace had been made and attacked New Orleans, only to be defeated by Andrew Jackson's army. This event is important because it left American's with a sense of victory even though there was never a winner. Also because we entered the "Era of Good Feelings".
