    Slave trade
    The Slave trade started in 1430's and ended in the 1800's. The slave trade was the trading of African Americans throughout the world. They did this so the people buying them didn’t have to work hard or didn’t have to work at all.

    The company was started in the 1600's by the British government to trade in the East. After they were driven out by the Dutch (now Indonesia) they went to to India. They were able to trade with India successfully until the Indian Mutiny in 1857 when the Colonial office took full control. In 1874 the East India Company went out of existence .

    Britain grew opium in India; during the late 1700s, Britain realized they could trade opium in China for items such as tea, porcelain, and silk. The Chinese people became highly addicted to the drug; the Chinese government declared opium illegal and told Britain to stop bringing in opium. The British refused, so in 1839 China sent warships to stop British merchant ships and the event sparked the Opium War. China was easily defeated and was forced to sign the Treaty of Nanjing in 1842.     The Taiping Rebellion was a massive civil war in Southern China from 1850 to 1864. The war was led by Hong Xiuquan, he announced that he was having visions about him being a younger brother of jesus christ. Wanted to establish a “heavenly kingdom of Great Peace”.The rebellion gained control of some parts of china, 20 to 30 million chinese had died. The yangzi basin destroyed, and it weakened the qing dynasty’s control over China.

    1857-1859the sepoy rebellion was one of the most well known uprisings during the British colonization of India was a mutiny of the native troops known as sepoys. It began on sunday, may 10, 1857 the sepoy rebellion was a complete surprise to the British. The Indians were upset about the British imposed rules, they tried to change the way of life for the Indians. The results of the sepoy rebellion was British lost control of India but British crown took over India
