  • Stopped seeing my dad

Mom managed to convince the judge that my dad's dogs were dangerous and I couldn't see him anymore.
  • Brother was born

I was 4 years old, it gave me a sense of responsibility even if I was still really young.
  • First day of kindergarten

Around 5 years old, gave me more independence.
  • Mom and ex-husband got divorced.

Don't know the exact date, but it made me realize that people aren't perfect -- more independence.
  • Moved out of my childhood home

I isolated myself more after the move. I felt as if I was the only person in the world I could rely on anymore, I felt very let down. Don't remember exact date.
  • Figured out my mother is an addict.

She was trying to get pills from my grandfather, it started a big fight.
  • Started seeing dad again.

Mom let me see dad and stay at a hotel with him one night, soon I began to go to his house more often.
  • Mom was arrested

Cop came to the house with a warrant, I showed him where she hid her pain pills. They arrested her, my grandparents came to pick me up.
  • Moved in with my dad

After my mom was arrested I later moved in with my dad. It was a big change, and I hated it at first. I thought my life was over and tried to move back home multiple times.
  • Moved to Arizona

I wanted to move to Arizona to get away from my mom. We thought it would be about four years before we could move, but we moved the same year.
