    Pope Urban II, is the Pope who started the crusades. When Rome became Cathoolic, they needed Popes, and Pope Urban II, is a person who was chosen to be one. People looked up to the Pope. People believe that god speaks through the Pope, so if the Pope says that " god wills it," people will believe him. Pope Urban II said that god wants the Catholic people to take back the Holy Lands, which is what started the Crusades, people believing that since the Pope says it, it has to be all right.

    The Crusades were a series of military campaigns by the Roman Catholics. The goal was to win back the holy lands, including Jerusalem. The crusaders were always Catholic.

Jerusalem is one of the holy lands in which the crusaders tried to take back. There was split control over Jerusalem, where Jordan had control over Eastern Jerusalem. Eastern Jerusalem contains many of Judaism's major holy places.

    The Six Day War, was the third Arab-Israeli War. It ended up being an Israeli victory, where Israel gained land, including East Jerusalem, from Jordan. This caused Jerusalem to be completely controlled by Israel, and the Jews.

The Roman people followed what their leader did, and Constantine became Catholic. He also made many Cathollic holy areas like churches. Once Rome bacame Christian, the Catholic god had power, and this is what started the crusades; the Pope saying that "god wills it" to going and taking back holy lands.
