Blood leaves the heart through the Pulmonary Artery and into the lungs

Blood from the lungs, that is oxygenated, goes through the pulmonary veins which takes the blood back to the heart.

From the pulmonary veins, blood goes into the left atrium.

Blood goes through the dorrway called the Mitral Valve

As blood flows into Left Ventricle the Mitral Valve shuts so that the blood can not flow back.

As the left ventricle contracts, blood leaves the hearts through the aortice valve.
