Blood from the lungs, that is oxygenated, goes through the pulmonary veins which takes the blood back to the heart.

As blood flows into Left Ventricle the Mitral Valve shuts so that the blood can not flow back.

As the left ventricle contracts, blood leaves the hearts through the aortice valve.
