Our commitment to developing our own blended learning practice required financial support. We submitted a grant proposal to the Girard Foundation, in which we detailed our vision of providing effective instruction through blended learning.

After researching and reviewing our experiences with past web and LMS platforms, we decided to commit to using Haiku LMS as our platform.

We brought in experts to help develop and guide our understanding as a school of what blended learning is, the tools that support it, and how to implement it within our classrooms. This initial PD served as a jump-start for our faculty to be exposed to Haiku and its functions.

We used data from our SIS to create Google logins, we then migrated Google login data ont our LMS to provide a single-signon experience for our students.

Our LMS was in fully deployed in September. Through student data import and teacher course set-ups, our LMS was ready to be used at the first day of fall semester.

During the first semester of the school we dedicated time to analyze and develop our understanding the uses and implementation of blended learning strategies and tools. Various PDs were offered with a focus on Haiku, Web 2.0 apps, classroom technology integration strategies. We invited experts to present, as we all provided opportunities for our staff to present their findings and experiences within their own classrooms.

After one semester of developing and implementing blended learning practices at our school, we reconvened to review and assess what we had learned.
At this time we started to develop a checklist tool that could help teachers plan lessons for their blended learning classes. -
Throughout this time period we further developed our efforts and the checklist tool, preparing for our summer submission.

Furthering our professional development, our teachers and support staff enrolled in the LEC online and blended learning certification course.

We completed our first year of committing, developing, implementing and reviewing effective applications of blended learning. At this point we submitted our findings to the Girard Foundation, along with teacher videos documenting their integration of blended learning and GRR instructional model.
