  • Integration Review

    Integration Review
First day of review! I'm happy that we finally started reviewing for the AP test, but I'm also a little nervous because there's quite a few things that I have only a fuzzy recollection about. As far as integration goes, though, today didn't seem too bad. I know that I have to look over integration by parts because I always botch the formula. I also need to review reimann sums a bit more because I get the formulas confused sometimes. I'll be better once I review them more.
  • Differential Equations!

    Differential Equations!
I love slope field problems. I hope there's one in the FR of the AP this year. Euler's was a little sketchy at first, but it came back really fast which was awesome. My main weakness was the logistic growth model because I tend to make stupid mistakes, but I know the general formula, so I should at least sort of get by on those questions on the test. Also, apparently they make that image of Euler on t-shirts, and I want one.
  • Sequences and Series

    Sequences and Series
When we looked at these today, it felt like it had been a lifetime since we had started learning them in class. Most of the stuff came back pretty easily, and I still remembered all of the tests and most of the conditions of convergence. I was glad to have the review though because I always forget the pos, continuous, decreasing thing for the integral test...
  • Taylor/Maclaurin Polynomials

    Taylor/Maclaurin Polynomials
The review today went by a little too fast for me. I'm okay with the polynomials, but I probably could have used a little extra class time with it. I'm hoping that the main focus of the ones on the AP test will be the ones from KYSC so that it's easy to get the general term of the series because I struggle with figuring that out sometimes.
  • Practice Test: FRQ Part 1 with Kyle

Practice Test: FRQ Part 1 with Kyle
I was so happy to get Kyle as a partner. He's really smart, and we worked pretty well together (just like in the math relay from the competition in the picture!). We struggled a little bit with a few of the parts, but Kyle and I bounced ideas off of each other which usually sparked some plan of attack for the problem. Definitely would not have done well by myself.
  • Integration Techniques Powerpoint

    Integration Techniques Powerpoint
I can't believe how many ways we can solve an integral. I mean, I remember learning all of them, but it's still a lot. The best thing about today's lesson was the tabular method. I had completely forgotten about it, but it can make integrals a million times easier to work with and solve.
  • Practice Test: FRQ Part 2 with Kyle

Practice Test: FRQ Part 2 with Kyle
Second half of the FRQ went about the same as the first half. We both had stuff that we weren't sure about, but we talked through it to figure it out, and I'm confident that we did well.
  • Practice Test: MC (no GCA) with Kyle

Practice Test: MC (no GCA) with Kyle
For the MC, we split it in half and only combined on the ones we weren't sure about. My half went relatively well, and I think there were only two or three that I had to get some help for.
  • Practice Test: MC (GCA) with Kyle

Practice Test: MC (GCA) with Kyle
Same deal as the other part of the MC... we divided and conquered. Once the test was completely over, we felt pretty confident that we had done well. I don't want to go too far out on the limb to say guaranteed five, but we've got to be pretty close at least.
  • Integration Applications, Volumes of Revolution, etc.

Integration Applications, Volumes of Revolution, etc.
Although I don't really have a problem memorizing digits of pi, I appear to be completely incapable of memorizing which types of revolution problems have no pi, one pi, or two pi. I always mess it up. I was also a little fuzzy on the ones where you revolve around a line that isn't an axis, but today's lesson helped clear that up, and hopefully it won't be a big thing on the test.
  • Practice Test: Review/Correct (AKA- I wish the AP was a partner test...)

Practice Test: Review/Correct (AKA- I wish the AP was a partner test...)
We did well! We completely killed the free response section which made me happy. Our main downfall for the multiple choice was the fact that we didn't consult with each other about the problems that we felt relatively confident on, so we got a couple of those wrong. And as expected, we got two or three wrong that we had both worked on and had both been a little puzzled by. Once we went over those couple problems on the board, though, I realized that most of our problems were easily corrected.
  • Pre-pre-game Day!

    Pre-pre-game Day!
Absent for AP Chem... the first day in a long string of absences.
  • Pre-game Day!

    Pre-game Day!
Absent again, but I reviewed my KYSC sheet that night and tried not to stress too much. I watched some tv, but alas it was Tuesday, so no Modern Family pre-game. I put a Modern Family picture anyway because the episode on game day was pretty good. Roller coaster fist bump.
Overall, I felt relatively good walking into the test.
  • GAME DAY!

    GAME DAY!
Post-game reflection: I'm pretty sure that the worst thing about today's test was the fact that we started 45 minutes late because they moved us to the gym at the last second for no reason...
Overall, it definitely went well. I am confident in a 4, but hopefully it will be a 5. I felt prepared going in, and there were no MC questions where I had to completely guess.
Also, alternating series remainders are my favorite things in the world. I love them.
