Suffering a STROKE
On the evening of 3 July I was alone in the TV-room/braai area where I fell asleep after watching soccer highlights, I think. I was awaken by my cell getting a sms from my daughter to inform me that's she was on her way home. When I sat up on the couch to look for my cell, the remote fell on the floor. As I reached for the remote, I was unable to grip it. I realised that something was amiss with me so I got up and made my way to the bedroom(where my wife and son was at the time). -
The following 10 minutes
I sat down on the bed and I remembered asking them to call ADT. By that time my daughter arrived. By now my kids had to flank me on the bed. At first they tried to take me to hospital themselves, but with the right side of my body being paralysed, this proves impossible. My wife made arrangements for an ambulance through ADT. I vaguely remembered the ambulance men entering the bedroom; and then I was lights out. I was taken to Cape Gate Private Hospital - a 5 minute drive from us! -
