  • Greek city-states

    In 800-700 B.C., Greece divided into city-states. Each city-state had its own government. In other words, each city-state had its own personality or way of doing things.
  • The first stage of the Persian War

    The first stage of the Persian War was between Greece and Persia. The Persian's leader at the time was King Darius. (550-486 B.C.) Persia was defeated in the battle by the Athenians and their Greek allies.
  • Athens become a democracy

    In 508 B.C., the Athens became a democracy. This occured in the 4th and 5th century B.C. They had a brilliant system called democracy. In case you forgot, democracy is a system of government. The decisions are made by the people or citizens. It's the system thst we Americans use today.
  • The First Persian War

    The First Persian War lasted from 499 B.C-488 B.C. The Greeks fought against the Lonians, and defeated them. The Greeks defeated the Persian army twice over the years of of 490 B.C.-479 B.C.
  • Pericles becomes the ruler of the Athens

    In 461 B.C. Pericles became the ruler of the Athens. Pericles was considered unchallengable, because of how powerful he was. He stayed in power until his death in 429 B.C.
  • The Peloponnesian War

    The Peloponnesian War was fought throughout the years of 431 B.C-404 B.C. The war was fought between the two most popular and powerful city-states; Athens and Sparta. The Athenians had a stronger navy, and the Spartans had a stronger army.
  • Egypt was conquered

    In 331 B.C. Eqypt was conquered by Alexander the Great. Without hesitation, Alexander the Great conquered Eqypt with ease. Although Alexander did conquer Eqypt, Alexander respected the Eqyptian's way of life. He did still install Greek government laws.
  • Alexander the Great's death

    In 323 B.C. Alexander the Great died, and the Hellenistic Age began. Alexander the Great was extremely powerful, and was loved by many people. Unfortunatley, Alexanders cause of death is unknown.
  • Rome conquered Greece

    In 146 B.C. Rome conquered Greece, and Greece became a part of the Roman Empire. Rome was an extremely powerful empire thatruled millions of square miles of land, and in 146 B.C. Greece was apart of the Roman Empire.
  • Fun Facts!

    1. Greece's largest island is Crete, and it is 3,189 square miles
    2. Our system of government (democracy) was inspired by the Ancient Greeks.
    3. Alexander the Great had a lot of respect for the ancient Eqyptians, but also put in some Ancient Greek laws.
