    Want to come to America!
I was so ready to come to America, but thanks to the Chinese Exclusion Act, I can't come for ten more years. Now, I don't have a house or a job. I don't know what I am going to do. The government here is bad, and there is poverty, and drought.

  • Coming to America!

    Coming to America!
I have been waiting for this moment for ten years. The Chinese Exclusion Act isn't a part of the law anymore, so I am going to America. I am bringing no possetions with me, besides one spoon that could give me about $1. It's all I have. I will be traveling with my friend, Xie, but we plan to split up after we get to America. He wants to go to more southern America, but I do not.
  • My New Job

    My New Job
I just got hired for my new job. It is the most humiliating thing ever. I have to do dishes, and wash other people's clothes. Everybody laughes at the people who do my job, and I am very embaressed. But, I do get payed, alough it is very low. I am saving my money, waiting to find a cheap house to buy. Anyway, I am so ready to move to the West and get a job on the railroad.
  • Moved to West

    Moved to West
I quickly got out of my old job as a dish washer and clothes washer, and moved to the west. Yesterday, I started my job on the railroad. I get a higher pay than my old job, but, the pay is still extremely low. I'm on my way to buying a house, I'm saving up money every penny that I get; and yesterday I found $1 in the bathroom at a bar!

    Living in an Abandoned Shack
It has been a couple years since I started my job on the railroad. It keeps moving us over more to the west, but that is okay. I just found an abandoned shack, which is livable, but not my first option. I had some money saved up, but I got robbed, and they took all my money, so I am back with little to nothing.
  • Xie

    Xie
Today, at work on the railroad, we got 13 new workers, and one of them happened to be Xie! He went south after we got to America, and just like me, we moved west shortly after. He needed a new job, his journey is so similar to mine. We had a long talk about our journies, and it was great to see him again!

It's a Good Life for Me Now
