    3.3 The World's First Writing System

    The Sumerians developed the world's first writing system, cuneiform. They used sharp stick like tools, called styluse, to make symbols that were wedge shaped, on to clay tablets.

    Mesopotamian settlements grew in size and the complexity. They eventually developed into bigger cities between 4000 and 3000 BC.
