    This is the rise of Rome.They have a republic with speration of powers. They have a "law of nations" meaning you are born with rights. A lot tof the architecture is still an influence on us today, they started dome tops and concrete. In our government buildings there are influences from Greece and Rome.

    Middle Ages
    The Middle Ages were also known as the Dark Ages. This was right after Rome fell, many people moved out into the country to live on their own. In the Middle Ages the Church was the most important thing. The church controlled many things like education, art, and even politics. This time was violent, and the punishment was very harsh. They believed in God alone, if he thought you were innocent then you would be healed after holding a hot iron rod.

    Renaissance
    The Renaissance means "rebirth". It is the rebirth of the Ancient Greece and Rome cultures. In the renaissance things like art and education became very advanced. Education started to become available and more important for many people. Art was one of the main things in the renaissance. Many famous artists were born in this time and created artwork that we still have today.

    Exploration was a time of discovery. Columbus sailed off on many voyages and came to the Americas. He killed many native people and used them as slaves. Spain and other countries in Europe began using slaves for plantations like cotton and sugar. This time was very important because it showed us where everything is in our world.

    This was the break from the catholic church. Protestant religions formed, started by Marin Luther. He began lutheranism by writing the 95 thesis that complained about the Catholic church. Other protestant religions were Anglicanism and Calvinism both christian with a few differences.

    The Spanish Armada was a fleet of ships that King Philip II of Spain sent to attack England. He wanted to get all of England and France to become Catholic. Spain had many ships but England was more advanced and Spain was defeated. This started the rise of England and France and the decline of Spain.

    Scientifc Revolution was the time when many great discoveries with science were made. They found the earth was not the center of the universe, that the sun was, different from what the church believed. Laws of gravity were discovered and many things with astronomy. Woman is this time were not accepted being scientists, but there were a few who made great discoveries.

    King Louis XIV is an example of absolutism. He had total control over the government and controlled every little thing. Divine Right of Kings was when God gave a person power to rule, and only He could take it away.

    Time when a monarch's power was limited by government. Now we have this in U.S. today, so not one person can have total control over the government.

    Englightenment was the study of human life so we can understand criminal behavior. Rationanalism was that reason is the only source of knowlege. "I think, therefor I am" -Descartes.

    Ancient Greece invented democracy which is important because we have that form of government today. Greece invented drama which influences us because we use those same ideas in movies/tv. Their architecture was very important to them and we use the same styles in our government buildings today. Olympics were also something they started that we still do in the world.
