    Migration from Western Africa was mostly durring the slave trade when they were taken to the Americas and Europe. Also, durring colonization many people from Europe came to colonize the area.

  • Niger River

    Niger River
    The Niger river was a major asset to the livelihood and trading of West Africa. Once Britian discovered how large it actually was and how big of a help it could be to them, it became even more popular.   • Haitian Revolution

    Haitian Revolution
    A slave revolt against the French colonists. This helped stop slvae trade from Western Africa. This was the only slave revolt that would lead to the founding of a state. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:San_Domingo.jpg

  • Liberia

    Liberia
    Durring the colonization of Africa, Liberia was one of two modernized countries in Africa that wasn't a colony of Britain or France. The other country was Ethiopia.   • Wassoulou Empire

    Wassoulou Empire

  • Imperialism's Effect on West Africa

    Capitalism no longer had the need for the slaves or the slave trade. Colonialism now started in Western Africa. Britian became the "mother country" of this area.
